The original Oilcloth was used widely as a tablecloth in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  It is widely loved because it never stains, just simply wipe clean with a wet rag and you have a new tablecloth. The new oilcloth is manufactured in Mexico (hence the bright colors!) and is a printed vinyl with a poly/cotton woven backing, not a laminated fabric, that is waterproof.  You still clean it in the same way as the original…with a warm soapy rag.   Can be rinsed in the kitchen sink.  For best results, store the oilcloth rolled up, not folded.  To remove wrinkles, simply lay the oilcloth in the sun and the wrinkles will disappear with the warmth of the sun.  Do not launder, dry-clean, or iron your oilcloth.
